Big Boy Bed

A few weeks ago we were forced to move Jack out of his crib and into a "big boy bed" which is currently just a twin mattress on the floor. I say forced because neither of us really felt like it was the time but Jack had other ideas. He figured out how to get out of his crib and it usually ended with him dropping unceremoniously to the floor. We decided it was too much of a hazard in case he ended up hitting his head on something when he made his escape attempts.

So we reluctantly made the transfer. And now I can see that our feelings of hesitation were valid. I feel like we have a newborn again. (Preparation for February perhaps...) We put a childproof doorknob cover on the inside of his door so he would have to stay in his room even if he woke up. 'Childproof' my eye! He figured that thing out after only a few nights. So now he comes into our bedroom at any and every hour during the night and won't go back to sleep unless I lay next to him in his bed. And let me tell you, being six months pregnant and getting up off of that twin mattress after I've been laying there for thirty minutes is no easy feat. And naptime has been a similar fiasco.

I really miss sleep.

sad! yes i laughed when i read this (which i'm sure i will regret:) but i really feel bad! matt and i were being negligent tonight when hayden wouldn't go to bed and we just layed in bed and he wandered around and played with trucks. i realized how awesome of a mom i was when he brought the t.v. remote into us and said he wanted a "show". i realized then how much fun it will be when we have no way to keep him in bed!

I feel your pain!! Reese used to sleep so good then once we put her in her big girl bed she comes in our room at all hours of the night. She wakes us up by hitting the bed or poking us. Scares the crap out of us!! It will get better though. It's good your doing this now!
